“Your inner knowing is your only true compass.” —Joy Page
When it comes to making decisions, nothing knows better than your Inner Knowing. Whether we’re growing our businesses or figuring out our next steps, our inner knowing gives us an edge.
And yet, we’re often taught to be factual and only use our analytical thinking to assess what is best for us. But doing that ignores the innate wisdom that each of us has within.
The truth is, factual information is only one piece of the puzzle. When we tap into our Inner Knowing, we gain access to all those missing pieces.
Inner knowing aligns with our true selves. It reaches beyond the ongoing chatter of our minds, and helps us in profound ways.
So how do you tap into it?
Three key ways are intuition, synchronicity, and listening within. So let’s take a look at each of them in today’s post.
How many times have you ignored your intuition only to find out later that your hunch proved true?
Intuition is a direct perception independent of any reasoning process. And we all have it. It’s a matter of paying attention and listening when you get a gut feeling, a hunch, or a flash of insight.
For example, when interviewing someone, have you ever had a subtle feeling that something was off? But they had all the qualifications, so you hired them anyway only to find out that they weren’t a good fit after all? Or turning it around, have you ever interviewed someone who didn’t have all the skills, but you hired them anyway because you had a feeling that they’d be a great—and then they were?
Listening to our intuition is one way to tap into our Inner Knowing, and can support with making decisions.
Trust your intuition and learn to notice it. Partnerships, products, and new ideas are born from the instinctive feeling of intuition. It can save you time as well as money. And as you cultivate your intuition, you’ll have a stronger rapport with your Inner Knowing. It’s a win-win.
Carl Jung identified synchronicity as “the causal connection of two or more psychic and physical phenomena.” In other words, coincidences that aren’t really meaningfully related—but sure as heck seem like they are. Those little coincidences of synchronicity are the echoes of your footsteps through life. And they tell you you’re on the right path.
For example, you’re considering staring a new online marketing campaign but don’t know how to go about it—and then wind up randomly talking to someone who works in marketing and knows exactly what you need.
When that happens, that’s the universe saying “yes” to the path you’ve chosen.
We all have innate wisdom within, and one of the best ways to tap into it is to listen to our hearts rather than our thoughts.
But with all the other stuff going on in our lives, quieting our thoughts so we can ask our Inner Knowing for guidance can feel pretty challenging. But if you get still and listen, you’ll start connecting to that inner voice.
A bit like with meditation, you can let your thoughts come and go without engaging. Simply let them be as you listen beyond them.
When you’re in doubt about a decision, take a moment to get quiet and listen within. You’ll connect with your truest self and hear the answer that’s right for you.
For example, I use my Inner Knowing when I’m not sure about doing something new. My innate wisdom always knows if it’s right for me or not. Sometimes my Inner Knowing will push me beyond my comfort zone, but it’s always the right path. And it will be for you, too.
Tap Your Inner Knowing
These three ways of connecting with you inner knowing are always available to you. The only requirement is seeing them at play in your life. They’ll support you in being true to yourself, which in turn supports you in all that you do. There is a powerful voice of wisdom that resides within each us—all you have to do is listen for it.
We’d love to hear your experiences with inner knowing.
